Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (Partner Organization)

The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), established in 1977 under the auspices of UNESCO, is a unique regional inter-governmental organization servicing countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in the field of electronic media development. It is hosted by the Government of Malaysia and the secretariat is located in Kuala Lumpur. The Institute enjoys a membership of 26 countries, 94 affiliates and 58 partners in Asia, Pacific, Europe and North America as of December 2010.

DW Akademie (Partner Organization)

DW Akademie is the center of media development of Deutsche Welle, the international multimedia broadcaster from Germany. DW Akademie provides training for media professionals and consults media organizations around the world. It also supports local institutions that offer media training and journalism education in many countries of Asia-Pacific, Central Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. DW Akademie believes that good journalism and professional media is at the heart of any free and open society.

MMDC Opens Enrollment for ‘Taste of Scriptwriting’-Batch 5

Myanmar Media Development Center (MMDC) officially announces the opening of the Fifth batch of ‘Taste of Scriptwriting’. The enrollment for this highly innovative short course begins on 21 August 2015, Friday, while classes start on 21 September 2015, Monday and end on 20 November 2015, Friday.

‘Taste of Scriptwriting’ is a basic program designed to train future scriptwriters for TV, film, and media.  It suits high school graduates, college students, young professionals, and even budding practitioners who wish to explore their creative voice and prepare themselves for new career opportunities in the scriptwriting industry.  It is being run in partnership with Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development and DW Akademie.

Actual course content is customized according to the needs of the trainees.  Also, friendly, constructive, and expert feedbacks are given all throughout the course duration.

Lectures are meant to be fun, dynamic, practical, and interactive. Meanwhile, learning activities include, but not limited to, ice breaker/s, group activities, short and practical writing exercises and simulations, film viewings, interviews, field trips, and group discussions.  Everything to be covered will help ideas to blossom into good scripts..

At the end of the 2-month course, each trainee is expected to prepare a professional portfolio – a collection of well-written scripts for TV, film, and media.  The professional portfolio aims to showcase the trainee’s personal style and creative voice as a scriptwriter.
